The Sri Lankan National Team Talent ID Camp provides a structured and transparent opportunity for young basketballers of Sri Lankan descent who aspire to progress into the Sri Lankan junior national team selection pool. Delivered in partnership between AUBD and the Sri Lanka Basketball Federation (SLBF), this camp brings official selectors, high-performance coaches, and Australian-based athletes together in a professional development environment.

This event marks the first time that Australian–Sri Lankan athletes will receive direct access to the SLBF pathway, including formal assessment, information sessions, and the opportunity to be considered for both national team programs and the AUBD Sri Lanka/Maldives Tour Team competing in July 2026.

AUBD MEMBERS who are not of Sri Lankan descent, please visit the AUBD Sri Lanka–Maldives Tour page for full details about how you can participate in the international tour.

A representative from the Sri Lanka Basketball Federation will attend the Talent ID Camp to formally observe athletes and meet with families.
Their session will cover:

• The Sri Lankan junior national team pathway
• Eligibility and documentation requirements
• How selections are made
• Opportunities for Sri Lankan-descent athletes living overseas
• Long-term development expectations
• Upcoming international competitions and training windows

This level of transparency and direct engagement has not previously been offered to athletes in Australia and is intended to strengthen pathways for the Sri Lankan diaspora.

Athletes who demonstrate strong potential may be invited to join AUBD’s official touring teams for July 2026, which include:

• Participation in the Asia Pacific Gulf Youth Championships (APG Cup)
• Competing against Sri Lanka’s national junior talent
• High-performance training in Colombo
• Cultural immersion experiences across Sri Lanka and the Maldives
• Ongoing assessment by SLBF representatives throughout the tour

This pathway is designed for athletes who wish to represent their Sri Lankan heritage at an elite level and gain meaningful exposure to national selectors.

Training sessions at the Talent ID Camp will be delivered by AUBD’s high-performance staff, including:

• Sedale Threatt Jr
• Sedale Threatt Sr
• Lanard Copeland
• SLBF Representative

Athletes will be evaluated in a structured basketball environment focusing on:

• Advanced skill development
• Decision-making under pressure
• Footwork, spacing, and offensive structure
• Guard and wing development
• Competitive situational play

This provides a professional, supportive, and internationally aligned training experience.
